MY WIFE HAS BEEN BUGGING ME TO BUY HER A CHROMEBOOK.
She’s the type of person who’d find a Chromebook very useful. All her files are on the cloud and she accesses them on Google Drive. She prefers typing on a laptop than a tablet or phone (I don’t blame her) but doesn’t want to spend a ridiculous sum for a lappie.
On second thought, I think I really should get her a Chromebook so that she won’t have to borrow my laptop every now and then.
She just has one consideration in choosing a Chromebook– it should be less than $300. It’s up to me to choose based on other factors like screen size, design, specs, battery life, etc.
With those things in mind, I started looking for an affordable Chromebook. Here are my choices:
ACER CHROMEBOOK R11 CONVERTIBLE
Acer is one of the best brands out there for budget laptops. This 11.6 inch Chromebook converts into a tablet which I am sure my wife would like. It is powered by an Intel Celeron N3150 Quad Core Processor with onboard memory of 4GB DDR3L. Internal storage is 32GB. Price is around $270.
HP CHROMEBOOK 11 G4 11.6 INCH LAPTOP
For less than $200, we can get our hands on this solidly built laptop from HP. Its screen measures 11.6 inches . It is backed by an Intel Celeron N3060 processor. Memory is 4GB and internal storage is 16GB. Battery can last up to 10 hours.
ASUS CHROMEBOOK C202SA-YS02 11.6″
This Chromebook has been designed and built to withstand rugged use. With its rubber guards and spill-resistant keyboard, this Chromebook should last for many years. It is powered by an Intel Celeron N3060 Processor with 4GB DDR3 of memory and 16GB of flash storage.
DELL CHROMEBOOK 11 11.6-INCH
It has practically the same specs as the previous models– 11.6 inch screen (although non-touch), 4GB RAM and Intel Celeron N3060 dual core processor. Battery life is also good at around 8 hours.
