I’M THE TYPE OF PERSON WHO LIKES TO SPEND A LOT OF TIME IN THE BATHROOM.
For me, it’s the best place to relax especially after a hard day at work. And having a Bluetooth shower speaker makes my stay in the bathroom even more fun because I can sing along to my favorite tunes and even receive a call.
There are plenty of shower speakers in the market. When I shopped for one, I focused on the following factors:
1). Battery life
2). Controls— the buttons should be well laid out and easy to find
3). Sound quality/volume
4). Wireless range– so that I can still pair my phone with the speaker even if I leave my phone in our bedroom
5). Should be waterproof (DUH…)
6.). Price— obviously.
The good news is that there were a lot of good choices. Here are some of the Bluetooth speakers I considered getting:
This Bluetooth speaker has a nice range of 33 meters or about 100 feet. The battery life is around 10 hours which is pretty decent. The buttons are tactile and it has a very good build quality. It is also available in 10 color options.
I felt that this one of the few shower speakers which really delivers in terms of sound quality. Its subwoofer pumps heart pounding bass. The couple of 40mm drivers are responsible for crystal clear sound. However, the battery life is not that impressive at around eight hours.
UE ROLL 2
This is an IPX7 rated device which simply means you can submerge it in water for half an hour and it would still deliver outstanding audio. The price is also a lot lower than the other Ultimate Ears device. But the wireless range is a rather disappointing 65 feet.
This is a very affordable Bluetooth speaker that would appeal to the budget-conscious. I also liked its size as it is very lightweight and easy to carry around. It just bothered me that the playtime is a mere 6 hours, which means you would have to recharge it every now and then especially if you are a heavy user.
POLK AUDIO BOOM
This won’t win any award for looks but I was impressed with its design. There are many ways to attach it— you can hook it in the shower head or use a suction cup to stick it on the wall. The battery can also last up to 10 hours. Plus the price is very reasonable. This is actually what I am using right now.
